We are not doctors. Always consult your mD about Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis conditions. Clinical Trials Search.org is a site devoted to listing clinical research studies in human subjects. Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis Clinical research trials and Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis medical trials take place in many of places throughout the U.S.A.. A clinical trial or clinical study is a research project with human volunteer subjects. Clinical drug trials and pharmaceutical clinical trials usually evaluate the effectiveness of new does drugs. The purpose of the studies / projects is to solve specific human healthcare questions. Clinical trials are a popular way for mDs, government agencies, and private sector companies to find cures for all varieties of conditions, like Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis. Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis Clinical Trials and other clinical trials allow for volunteers to have health treatment options before they are available to the masses. Many times the human subjects acquire professional assistance for free of charge, and sometimes they are compensated for their time. Occasionally there is a cost for a Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis clinical trial. Test subjects typically obtain the finest healthcare available for their Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis condition. Dangers are a reality, nevertheless, and might include additional or frequent doctor trips, medical dangers (possibly life-jeopardising), and/or the treatment being ineffectual. Trials are federally regulated with strict guidelines to protect clinical trials patients.

Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis

Phase II Randomized Study of the Effects of Growth Hormone on Children and Adolescents on Maintenance Dialysis

For Condition: Renal Osteodystrophy,End Stage Renal Disease
Status: Completed
Sponsor(s): National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) , National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK),University of California, Los Angeles
Synopsis: OBJECTIVES: I. Evaluate the separate and combined skeletal effects of recombinant human growth hormone (GH) and calcitriol in patients with adynamic renal osteodystrophy. II. Assess whether calcium-regulated changes in parathyroid hormone secretion predict changes in bone formation. III. Characterize the response to GH in cancellous bone and in growth plate cartilage in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism during calcitriol therapy.
Details: PROTOCOL OUTLINE: This is a randomized study. Patients are stratified by bone lesion turnover and secondary hyperparathyroidism. Patients in the first group are treated with recombinant human growth hormone subcutaneously every day for 8 months. Patients in the second group are treated with calcitriol for 8 months, administered as a daily oral dose or an intraperitoneal dose three times a week. Patients in the third group are treated with growth hormone and calcitriol (same dosages as above). A control group does not receive any hormonal therapy.
