We are not docs. Always confer with your physician about Phase 2 Evaluation of the ELAD System in the Management of Acute Liver Failure conditions. Clinical Trials Search.org is a website committed to listing clinical research studies in human subjects. Phase 2 Evaluation of the ELAD System in the Management of Acute Liver Failure Clinical research trials and Phase 2 Evaluation of the ELAD System in the Management of Acute Liver Failure health trials occur in many of cities throughout the US. A clinical trial or clinical study is a research project with human volunteer subjects. Clinical drug trials and pharmaceutical clinical trials generally evaluate the effectivity of new does drugs. Phase 2 Evaluation of the ELAD System in the Management of Acute Liver Failure Clinical Trials and other clinical trials permit volunteers to obtain healthcare treatment alternatives before they are available to the masses. Most times the participants undergo professional assistance for without cost, and occasionally they are compensated for their time. Occasionally there is a cost for a Phase 2 Evaluation of the ELAD System in the Management of Acute Liver Failure clinical trial. Dangers are a reality, however, and may include more or frequent mD visits, healthcare dangers (perhaps life-endangering), and/or the treatment being ineffectual. Trials are federally regulated with rigid guidelines to protect clinical trials patients.

Phase 2 Evaluation of the ELAD System in the Management of Acute Liver Failure
For Condition: Fulminant Hepatic Failure
Status: Recruiting
Sponsor(s): VitaGen ,
Synopsis: The purpose of this study is to determine if treatment with the ELAD Bioartificial Liver Assist Device is beneficial to patients in Acute Liver Failure either as a bridge to liver transplant or bridge to native liver recovery.
Details: Current treatment with modalities in Acute Liver Failure still carry unacceptable morbidity and mortality. It is hoped that by intervening with ELAD a patient will have an opportunity to be bridged to transplant or to avoid transplantation and to have their native liver recover.
Eligibility:
Study Type: Interventional, Treatment, Randomized, Open Label, Active Control, Single Group Assignment, Safety/Efficacy Study
Minimum Age/Maximum Age: 18 Years/50 Years
Genders: Both
Protocol Entry Criteria: Clinical diagnosis of Fulminant Hepatic Failure with encephalopathy, and coagulopathy. Exclusion Criteria: No evidence of chronic liver disease.
